Say Hello to My Little Frieeeend

[insert lots of beaver jokes here]

Been off work today as I seem to have some sort of stomach bug. I came off better than the other half though.. blerg. This fella is an idea I’ve been tinkering with for a few days, after turning google upside down trying to find a ninja animal that hasn’t already been thought of / trademarked by someone else.. sigh. First choice was pigeon, but I think beaver holds more possibilities in the long run. I’m thinking of starting a Cafe Press store so expect to see the Ninja Beaver doing his thang sometime in the next millenia.. This iteration was sketched in pencil and scanned, the vector art done in Flash and the text and background in photoshop. I was a bit stumped for a font, as he only font I’ve ever actually bought was the Zap Pak from Blambot Fonts, which I’ve just discovered seems to no longer exist and some of the sound effects have been put into a “free for non-profit and commercial use” pak. Ouch, that’s a bit annoying. Oh well…. *clicks to download the free stuff anyway*…

Not entirely impressed with Chris Eccleston’s decision to quit Dr Who. It’s a real shame, the first show was a little patchy with a touch too much slapstick and a few cringey moments but on the whole I thought it was great, and Ecclestone looked as if he’d shape up to be a really good Doctor. Such a shame that he’s already being likened to the one-Bond-wonder George Lazenby. The beeb chose a rather odd time to shove the news out as well, 4.08am for a news bulletin? Crumps. I guess they were rushing to get to it before the tabloids did, it was splashed across the front pages this morning true enough. I guess an earthquake in Indonesia doesn’t rate as highly as celebrity news. [snork].

Oh well, the speculation beginneth yet again. Must admit, I could quite easily see David Thewlis as the Doctor. Anyone but Alan ‘fluffy jumpered heart throb to the over 30s’ Davies… please, anything but that.

Cushioning The Blow

Not normally a habit of mine just to post links, but I just had to pinch this one from the forum

Yahoo 360

Well whaddya know, another one horning in on the blogging act. I nearly put ‘phenomenon’ there, but changed my mind.

Available March 29 through an invitation-only beta, Yahoo! 360 will provide users with an integrated experience, seamlessly bringing together popular communications, content and community services such as Yahoo! Messenger, Yahoo! Photos, Yahoo! Local, LAUNCHcast Music and Yahoo! Groups with new services like web logs (blogs), mobile blogging (moblogging) and other sharing tools for recommending favorite movies, restaurants, music and more. The company plans to add additional features and functionality throughout the beta period.

Hmm… I smell a Flickr tie-in.

I guess I’ll get mails from my ISP trumpeting all the new shiny stuff I can use that I already have going on, and am paying for separately.. sigh. Not that I’m bothered, natch.

I prefer to run the site the way I want to and not be beholden to BT Yahoo for anything, at least that way if I switch ISPs I won’t lose my site.. jeez.. doesn’t even bear thinking about, two years of my pointless stream of consciousness down the toilet if I change my broadband supplier.

Meep !

Took a mosey over to Britblogs earlier, and noticed that I’m the only blog on there with comic books listed as an interest. No wonder the British comic industry is a dead duck. :(
