What can you say really? Violence breeds violence ad bloody nauseum. Did the guy deserve it? Probably, but as long as they’re blowing each other up every day there’s not going to be any peace. Can’t wait for The Shrub to call this one a “historic and courageous” move. But hey, Jack Straw’s made a comment at least -
“The British government has made it repeatedly clear that so-called ‘targeted assassinations’ of this kind are unlawful, unjustified and counter-productive,” Foreign Secretary Jack Straw said in a statement.”
.. Yeh, that’ll have ‘em quaking in their boots alright, be sure and make our elected lapdog repeat that one when he’s guiding Dubya round the circuit one more time for the sake of our ‘special relationship.’ Watch out for the tyres round the edge now boys, wouldn’t want to crash would we?
In other news, the joys of living in a first floor flat are really kicking in at the moment. (snork)
Our flat is positioned so that we share a stairwell / landing with one other flat, and the people living ‘next door’ are on the whole pretty quiet.. when they’re indoors. As soon as the door opens it’s a whole new ballgame. Is there some sort of rule that states ‘you must throw your door back with enough force to give a pro-wrestler concussion’? How can perfectly peaceful people not grasp the concept that the door will close just as well by simply closing it quietly and turning the damn handle? Let me explain..
Downstairs has a heavy security door with buzz through security. Great, bloody marvellous, in fact it’s one of the main reasons we took this flat in the first place. However, this door, unless controlled by the person going through it will slam with enough force to make the walls shake up here. Suffice to say, manual control seems to be above and beyond the call of duty for most peole round here. Secondly, we all (of course) have our own front doors which are also fairly weighty (ours is double locked and deadlocked on the inside, no bugger gets in here without an invite). So a certain amount of restraint is beneficial to not double offend on entry. Fnnnarrrrrrrrrr (sigh) Anyway, closing the door seems to be an alien concept to this lot, and not only that – they seem to have to go up and down the stairs at least twice for every time they leave or enter the building. And they go in and out a lot, a whole lot.
Still I suppose it’s an improvement on the guy downstairs leaving his used up porn mags in a see-through baggie in the garden, so that every time I look out the window I get a Razzle pyramid of butts smiling at me. I was tempted to ask him to roll it over occasionally so that I could at least a good rotational cycle going. The view gets a bit boring after a while. Either that or leave a magnifying glass over it so I can at least read the Readers Letters.
