Sack The Navigator

He dropped the Roadmap again.

What can you say really? Violence breeds violence ad bloody nauseum. Did the guy deserve it? Probably, but as long as they’re blowing each other up every day there’s not going to be any peace. Can’t wait for The Shrub to call this one a “historic and courageous” move. But hey, Jack Straw’s made a comment at least -

“The British government has made it repeatedly clear that so-called ‘targeted assassinations’ of this kind are unlawful, unjustified and counter-productive,” Foreign Secretary Jack Straw said in a statement.”

.. Yeh, that’ll have ‘em quaking in their boots alright, be sure and make our elected lapdog repeat that one when he’s guiding Dubya round the circuit one more time for the sake of our ‘special relationship.’ Watch out for the tyres round the edge now boys, wouldn’t want to crash would we?

In other news, the joys of living in a first floor flat are really kicking in at the moment. (snork)

Our flat is positioned so that we share a stairwell / landing with one other flat, and the people living ‘next door’ are on the whole pretty quiet.. when they’re indoors. As soon as the door opens it’s a whole new ballgame. Is there some sort of rule that states ‘you must throw your door back with enough force to give a pro-wrestler concussion’? How can perfectly peaceful people not grasp the concept that the door will close just as well by simply closing it quietly and turning the damn handle? Let me explain..

Downstairs has a heavy security door with buzz through security. Great, bloody marvellous, in fact it’s one of the main reasons we took this flat in the first place. However, this door, unless controlled by the person going through it will slam with enough force to make the walls shake up here. Suffice to say, manual control seems to be above and beyond the call of duty for most peole round here. Secondly, we all (of course) have our own front doors which are also fairly weighty (ours is double locked and deadlocked on the inside, no bugger gets in here without an invite). So a certain amount of restraint is beneficial to not double offend on entry. Fnnnarrrrrrrrrr (sigh) Anyway, closing the door seems to be an alien concept to this lot, and not only that – they seem to have to go up and down the stairs at least twice for every time they leave or enter the building. And they go in and out a lot, a whole lot.

Still I suppose it’s an improvement on the guy downstairs leaving his used up porn mags in a see-through baggie in the garden, so that every time I look out the window I get a Razzle pyramid of butts smiling at me. I was tempted to ask him to roll it over occasionally so that I could at least a good rotational cycle going. The view gets a bit boring after a while. Either that or leave a magnifying glass over it so I can at least read the Readers Letters.

“…….”

I have nothing but respect for this young lady.

Subject Matters

Firstly, just an addendum to my last entry about the forum. I’ve got it looking pretty much the way I want it (for the moment), and have also added a field to the member profiles which allows the user to enter a bio, it’s not a mandatory field, and I don’t expect many people will use it, but it’s a good place to store links that you might think people are interested in, whatever really. No biggie if it doesn’t get used.

So what’s the point of the title? It’s the reason I’ve not been blogging much of late. I just don’t feel like I have much to say, nothing interesting at least. I have finally started to get my groove back a bit now I’m forcing myself to sit and scribble, albeit aimlessly, and that’s good. But I find myself struggling to think of things to write about. I wander around looking at other people’s blogs, and sure there’s a lot of self absorbed crap out there, but there’s also some funny, interesting or insightful writing as well. I found one today that’s written by the assisstant manager of a strip club, Life at TJ’s Place, and then of course there’s Belle De Jour. Belle De Jour purports to be a ‘London Call Girl’, although various news sources are trying to expose her as either Sarah Champion, Lisa Hilton and some author called Christopher Hart. Myself I couldn’t really care less, if it’s a scam then good for them, whoever they are. At least they have something to say, fictitious or not. And if it throws up sites like these I’m all for it.

God bless the internet, for all the pointless crap out there, some people still have a sense of humour.

Meh… back to my point. I know I should have things to say about the games industry. But really who wants to hear about my day… Coffee… rub eyes… yawn.. stare at monitor for two hours… have a fag.. rub eyes… yawn a bit more…. not exactly pulitzer material is it? Trouble is I can’t say much about the day to day workings as a) you don’t blerb out development details, it isn’t done and it could get you the sack; b) Work knows about my site so doing a) would be extremely stupid and c) although I’m enjoying texturing what can I possibly say about it that would make for interesting reading? So that leaves me on concept work, which I’ve never felt I’m much of an authority on, I’m not sure anything I have to offer is of any use and errr I’m not doing that much at the moment.

And the above is a perfect example of the self absorbed crap I was talking about earlier.

So, I’ll keep at it, I’ll keep posting links to things I think are interesting and hey if one person finds something useful in the screeds of tat on my blog then I’ve achieved something. Right?

…. right?

Like I give a shit anyway…
