Monthly Archive for March, 2004

Just One More Thing

I’ve noticed that if I go to the archive index and then click on a month, look at that month’s blogs and then hit the ‘current’ menu button it goes to the 404 page. I’m expecting there to be a few 404′s over the coming weeks, as I’ve blasted the entire site off and started from scratch. So if anything crops up that I’m unaware of a heads up would be good.

Oh and still no real idea what I’m supposed to do with that trackback thing. I can use it for collating relevant links in, but I generally do that in the posts anyway.

Tired now, brokkid things will have to wait ’till tomorrow now. Bleeee

Shiny and New

Weh-hey !!

All my long hours of work have over the last week or so have finally paid off and the site is reborn. Hoooo-haaaaaa. What you want me to say something constructive? No chance, too tired for that. Anyway, nuts to all that, the blog was far too cluttered up with useless bollocks. Is anyone really interested in looking at pretty pics of whatever cds I happen to listening to, a nice happy calendar with bugger all on it but the latest dvd and cinema releases.. oh ok the calendar is potentially useful I ‘spose, but I didn’t feel like incorporating it into the new layout, and frankly it’s blatantly obvious I have no social life or I wouldn’t be blogging would I? Heh…

So, new stuff… well there isn’t any new art per se, just a new look. The menu at the top of this ‘ere page is repeated on every page; so it’s easier to navigate from one place to another without having to return to the home page*. Darcy’s Book of the Week has been incorporated as a seperate blog, with a link back to the reviews in question. They need to be seen in their entirety to be appreciated, plus the new ‘read more’ system will take interested parties straight to the review in question, rather than just linking to the topic page header. Which is nice. There seems to be a bit of an issue with the menu, in that if you try to use it while the page loads it gets confused and throws the submenus over near the ‘bio’ link. I don’t think there’s anything I can do about that, the menu is locked to that image, if I built one menu for every single item there’s be more javascript cluttering up the works than you can shake a C++ manual at.

In short, I’m rather chuffed. Hopefully I’ll be able to get on with some ‘proper’ work now that I’ve put this to bed.

*most gratuitous use of the word ‘page’ in one sentence…

Current mood : accomplished

Where Am I ?

I’ve been working on a complete overhaul of the site, which is taking quite some time. Hopefully, the new version will be going live within two weeks, maybe less. If anything starts to look a bit strange on here (some of the elements have been altered already to make the scripts fit better into the new site layout) it should be sorted pretty soon.

That is all.
