You Never Miss Something till it’s Gone

BBnet is being closed. That’ll teach me for not keeping up with things.

Wide-Eyed and Clueless

Curse you insomnia. I’ve not been so well this week, it turned out that the comprehensive re-enactment of The Clangers that was going on in my left ear was not the result of a deranged mind, but a most peculiar sound effect caused by an ear infection. It did disturb me somewhat during a viewing of The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen, my resultant bile-driven rant can be found here. I will concede that I was less than happy anyway, due to the vice-like pressure that seemed to be causing the left side of my face to go numb but I’m not too sure this wasn’t caused by the sheer awfulness of the excuse for a film. I’d have liked to enjoy it as a pure popcorn movie, but sadly it couldn’t even manage that, and to think the source material was so strong. Shame on you, James Robinson.

Anyway, decided I better see the Quack, she gave me drugs. Which was nice, and at last today the voices in my head seemed to have stopped. Only problem is I’ve got my sleeping pattern arse about face now, as I slept till 3pm yesterday, and then again today. Sigh. The good thing is it’s enabled me to have a bit of a tinker with the forum graphics while there’s been no traffic. It looks somewhat better now, I hope.

On the website front, I’m hoping to add another gallery soon, which will be another black and white page, mostly concept work for Vega$: Make it Big, which is now in all good game shops everywhere (plug plug). I’m also planning a redesign of the character on the homepage, and maybe if time allows, alternating entry pages. Time schime. We’ve signed a new project at work which I can’t tell you about , and there are many more pitches in progress, a few of which, I have to say, do push my buttons somewhat, artistically.

Hmm, that’s me out. I’m sure I’ll think of something more enlightening to say after I’ve hit the publish button but that’s quite enough of my late night rambling for one day.

Current Mood : Wondering which part of Steven Norrington I can bury a sharp object in

Downtime

As I type this there are server problems, which of course doesn’t help much as no-one will be able to read it till the server goes back up, but this is just as a heads-up after the event. So apologies to anyone who has been trying to access the site, it was a server problem and is/was out of my hands. Hopefully it should be resolved soon.

Anyway… IT’S HERE !!. Phew, in the end it arrived just one day after the UK release date, so much happiness in the realm of Milton Keynes. Still a couple of things that niggle away at me, not the least of which was the loss of a couple of lines that I liked, much as the removal of Haldir’s ‘heelspin’ in the Fellowship Extended Edition irked me a little, I do miss it, but I prefer the EE version. Ah well, still The Two Towers is much improved, it hangs together better, the editing is far better.. apart from a dodgy jump cut between the Huorns and the aftermath of the battle, but that’s just nitpicking. Also loved the Merry and Pip stuff, it was good to have Bombadil’s lines in there even though I don’t miss Bombadil, it makes sense fo Treebeard to have some of his lines, seeing as some of his were pinched by Galadriel…. ok I need to get out more, it’s true.

On the subject of getting out more, we actually left the house and went to an entertainment establishment this week, Milton Keynes Theatre to see The Rocky Horror Show. It was the live show, actually called the ‘Big 30′ as it’s the 30th anniversary tour. Lionel Blair was excellent as the Narrator, to be honest they were all pretty great, albeit a bit loud! Quite a few people dressed up, we didn’t though now I kinda wished we had. I wouldn’t inflict myself in a basque and fishnets on anyone, but next time (and I’m pretty sure there will be a next time, I’ll be decked out in surgeons scrubs, a labcoat and marigolds. I think also though that next time we’ll go for the stalls, having all the people in the circles doing the Time Warp is a bit disconcerting. I had visions of the whole thing collapsing a la Matinee, the damn thing was wobbling all over the place!
